Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come to your events if I’ve never been to a kirtan before?

Yes, kirtan is for everyone and no prior experience is needed! We make it easy and accessible so you will get the hang of it in no time.

What do I need to bring with me?

A water bottle is always useful to have. You are welcome to bring a notebook if you wish to jot down some thoughts after the experience. You don’t usually require anything extra at our regular events but if you do we will let you know when you book your tickets.

I want to perform at your event. How can I do that?

Leading kirtan at our events is by invitation. We have a large pool of people that we invite to lead kirtan at our events and offer the opportunity as much as possible to those who are long term practitioners of bhakti-yoga, to ensure that we maintain the standard of facilitation and harmony of our sessions. If you would like to sing or play an instrument at our regular events, you are welcome to speak in person to our team members at one of the kirtans.

Do the kirtan leaders/musicians get paid to play at your events?

No. Everyone involved is a volunteer and does their part as a service. Where necessary we cover travel expenses if someone is coming from a long way.

Can I bring instruments to your events and play along?

We’d love you to. Depending on what you play, it might be wise to double-check with us over email first. If it’s a triangle or a tambourine, go right ahead – no permission required. If you play louder instruments like guitar or brass, please let us know ahead of time so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Can I get a refund for my ticket?

You can email us and request a refund up to 2 hours before the event. We are unable to refund the tickets after the event.

Can I bring my child to kirtan?

Children are welcome and usually enjoy kirtan. Often, children are happy to listen, dance, or even sleep through it. However, we leave it up to you to decide if your child will be happy to sit for a while with music around them. Please be aware that kirtan can be both quiet and meditative, as well as loud and lively and we suggest you consider this before bringing your little ones.

We do ask that you keep children under 16 years old with you at all times, as our team cannot take responsibility for them.

Do I have to pay for a child’s ticket?

Usually, children over 10 years old require a full ticket. However, best to check at each individual event as conditions may vary due to the nature of the event or venue.
